Day 363: … but turn out not to be. Like going for a family walk… in the rain… and wind… and seeing two children end up falling over in the mud, everyone getting soaked, the umbrella turning inside and out and outside in several times… and bucket-loads of moaning.

Little bit of Christmas…
Day 359: … had leaked out, waiting to be discovered on our walk. How odd to come across them, huh?
A strange little thought has flitted through my mind since that it’s a sign from my Dad and my husband’s cousin. Okay, I’m sticking with that thought. We lit candles for both of them this morning, so why wouldn’t they say ‘hi’ in return in some way?
Lovely day today. Happy children. Happy us. Close, safe, together.

Bravery…
Day 355: … comes in many shapes and sizes. This is a little doll I made for my Maddy Moo after she was particularly brave today – it’s to remind her of how brave she can be (there’s a little felt heart inside which is her brave heart – it’s always there even if she can’t see it).
It doesn’t sound much, but she joined in at the school Christmas carols around the tree… and when she was feeling awful and this was way out of her comfort zone because a few months ago she’d cry most days at the thought of going to school and rarely even speak let alone anything like this… it was a huge deal for her.

Getting crafty…
Day 352: … spent the day making little felt hearts* to go on our Christmas tree.
Though ended up crippling my poor sewing finger in the process! Yowch!

* Very easy to make. Draw a heart on a piece of card. Cut it out. Draw around on a piece of felt. Cut out a front and back. Sew on some buttons for decoration (onto the front side of one of the hearts). Sew in a ribbon to hang and sew around with a blanket stitch. When you’re about 3/4 of the way done, stuff with cotton wool… then finish sewing. Simple!

Day 350:… and all things nice… especially as these orange slices, sprinkled with cinnamon, dried in the oven ready to make a Christmas wreath tomorrow were warmly filling my kitchen with delicious smells. Yummy! And dead easy to do!
